Why rely on Portrait Art's concept of retail price?

My personal integrity. I have been an artist since 1990 and take tremendous pride in my profession. From time to time various entities have tried to encourage inaccuracies from me... without success. Is the art authentic?

You have my guarantee. Art with questionable authorship is not chosen for Portrait Art. I will provide a certificate of authentication with artworks purchased upon request.

What about condition?

I offer full disclosure. You are never made to guess about this important aspect. Art is inspected before it is considered for sale. Art works are photographed and a condition report is issued before art is shipped.

Where do you find these fantastic pieces?

Estates are the main source. Individuals are inheriting art that is wonderful, but that does not personally agree with them. Aunt Matilda may have had an excellent taste in art, but if it is different from yours, you may prefer to sell it.

How is the Gallery Price determined?

My 13 years of experience as a Fine Art appraiser guides me in carrying out current research. I review primary transactions which means contacting galleries, artist's agents or in some cases the artists when they are the sole purveyor.

Is the merchandise packed carefully?

Frequently items are double boxed. If you notice a damaged container before the shipping person departs, insist on opening the package in front of the delivery person. If it is discovered later, save all packing materials and call the shipping company and Portrait Art within 24 hours. Art is shipped fully insured.

Do you ship overseas?

Yes, so far we've shipped to art buyers in Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, Germany and Holland. Credit card charges are 2% higher for foreign charges, so this cost is additional.

What if I don't like it when it arrives?

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If you are not pleased with your purchase, you must first contact Portrait Art to arrange for return. Please return it promptly, fully insured, in the same condition you received it. The expense of shipping and insuring the art both ways is yours. Prompt return means within ten (10) days.

What kind of payments do you accept?

Credit cards taken include American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover. Personal checks, money orders and cashiers checks are accepted as well. Portrait Art is now offering gradual payments (otherwise known as layaway) for collectors with appetites larger than their monthly budgets.

How are shipping and insurance charges established?

You will be notified of these charges as they can vary with different destinations. This is not a profit center. Our charges are your charges.
